Sexual abuse of a child occurs when an adult exposes a child or youth to inappropriate sexual touching, activity or behaviour. It is estimated that in 96% of child sexual abuse cases, the child knows the abuser - and may live in the same household as them. And AASAS estimates that 29% of child sexual abuse victims are boys.
This Alberta Government webpage has information on child sexual abuse, as well as other ways that children can be abused. If you think that a child is being abused, you must report it. This webpage has information about the 24/7 Child Abuse Hotline.
Child Abuse Hotline:

Often, once a report of sexual abuse has been made, a child will be interviewed at one of Alberta's Child Centres.
In Red Deer there is the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre.
And in Edmonton, there is the Zebra Centre.
