Meet the Board

Romesh Persaud, Chair

He has had numerous volunteer roles over the last 35 years, including Chief of Timing at the Lake Louise World Cup. Romesh retired in 2017 after 39 years working for the Alberta Solicitor General.

During his career he obtained degrees from Mount Royal College, the University of Alberta Business School and retired as a senior manager. He lives on his wife’s family homestead farm near Miquelon Lake. He enjoys spending time at Silver Creek golf course during the summer where he also volunteers as a Player’s Assistant. He currently serves our board as Chair.

Debbie Tkachuk, Treasurer

Debbie volunteered to be on the Camrose & District Victim Services board to help and give back to the communities serviced by Victim Services.  She recently retired from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General after 31 years in the area of Court Services.  She started as a Judicial Clerk and worked her way to being a Manager/Supervisor.  This allowed her to work and develop relationships with many stakeholders throughout the years.  One of the many rewards was being able to assist people through the court processes.  Debbie's next career is learning to farm with her fiancé, Brian and train her one year old Australian Shepherd, Kylie.

Greg Burns, Marketing

An enthusiastic award-winning communications specialist, Greg enjoys putting his marketing skills towards helping CVS with websites, social media, branding, sponsorships, media relations and advertising.

Camrose Police Service Liaison

The partnership between Camrose Police Service and CVSU is essential in order to meet our strategic objectives of enhancing service to victims of crime and optimizing efficiencies in the way we are able to service our community. CVSU actively participates in supporting grieving families, liaising with those displaced from their homes after tragic events, conducting restitution requests and other court support for victims.

Our dedicated CVSU team does all of this on top of being called out at all hours of the day and night to support those in need. They consistently deliver these services in a professional and compassionate manner.

The board, program manager and all the volunteer advocates deliver a very important service to the citizens of Camrose and have a very positive impact on our community.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Liaison

Camrose & District Victim Services is an important and integral part of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and our daily operations. The Camrose RCMP detachment utilizes the Camrose Victim Services on a regular basis. We look forward to a continued positive relationship with Victim Services and all their advocates.
